Nissan “Naturally Capable”

This spot for Nissan is a vfx tour de force. I have no idea who did it. Any help would be appreciated.

Some folks online have compared this spot to the Citroen transformer spots. But the Nissan spot has something those Citroen ads don’t have: a concept. It makes much more sense to transform SUVs into beasts that are at home in rugged, off-road environments than it does to transform a car into… well… a Transformer. I suppose you could argue that Citroen was trying to capture the 20-something market, but that rings a little hollow to me.

Also see Stardust’s excellent Nissan work for more transformational magic, albeit en entirely different kind.

Thanks, Seth for the tip on this one!

Desagree… I think that each ideal has your own concept. Citroen in my opinion has much more impact in terms of market than nissan spot. Comercial spots are not just a narrative idea.

You’re right about the concept, Justin – Much stronger than the Citroen spots. More appropriate concept with an actual resolution. This spot makes sense and is very well done.

Oops, sorry Seth.

Is it just me or does the cat like creature the SUV transforms into look just like one of the five lions from Voltron?

>>Is it just me or does the cat like creature the SUV transforms into look just like one of the five lions from Voltron?<< I was thinking that too.

I just saw a trailer for TRANSFORMERS when I saw the Jackass 2 movie, and it looks ridiculous. Didn’t Neil Blokencamp (sorry if spelled wrong) have something to do w/ that Citroen spot?

sorry if this isnt so related to this post.

This work is amazing. The spider down the side of the cliff is so badass. If I actually saw that coming down the side of a cliff I think I would A) Shit my pants. or B) Run and hide somewhere.

Well, in my opinion the Nissan add is really good, but if the main idea was to use the “transformation effect”, Citroen is much better, it really shows the trasnformation happening, the Nissan’s transformation is cool but we don’t really see it happening, we don’t know where all those stuff were and when it’s done, we cannot say it was a car. But I love it anyway, Just my opinion.
