For Your Eyes Only

1000-lady.jpgA brilliant homage to the sex-soaked title sequences of James Bond films by Maurice Binder, National Television’s new video for the Scissor Sisters’ “Land of a Thousand Words” is a fairly faithful reproduction. It’s also a long in-joke for designers and film aficionados – with the real directors, editors, producers, etc actually getting a screeen credit . But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t perfectly suit the glam and totally over the top Scissor Sisters. Pretty gorgeous photography by Omar Ganai, too. Robert Brownjohn, not Maurice Binder, was the title sequence director who did the “projection on girl.” I dont have Sex and Typography in front of me, but I believe Brownjohn did two Bond films between Binder’s.

Actually, reading the Wikipedia entry states that as well.

Robert Brownjohn directed two Bond’s film titles: Goldfinger and From Russia with love.
