Czarek Kwasny for Mocean Worker

Polish student Czarek KwaÅ›ny poured some serious love into this music video for Mocean Worker’s likable track, “Shake Ya Boogie.”

The film grain effect is a little too heavy, but the interplay between cel animation and 3D is fun and well-realized. The whole thing was created in six months using Toon Boom Studio, 3DS Max and After Effects.

I also like the fact that the homages to Chaplin’s classic Modern Times are founded upon the music’s early jazz heritage. Gives the whole thing a sense of thoughtful cohesiveness.

Props to Joel for the tip!

I think the 3D is absolutely great. Not sure about how the 2D works with it. The two looks don’t seem to work too well together in places. Also, it’s a pity they had to work with what i presume to be the band’s smiley face logo, which looks out of place with the feel created for the rest of the promo. But overall it’s chock-full of chrarcter and a great achievement.
