Important Looking Pirates for Oscar Magnuson Posted by Justin Cone This is kind of a super-Quickie: In collaboration with Oscar Magnuson Spectacles, Stockholm-based Important Looking Pirates created some interesting animations for an installation. Each undersea critter is crafted from what looks like parts of glasses (an appropriate choice, given their collaborator’s business). The sound design adds a wonderful eeriness to each of the videos. So would these be played on plasma installations while you shop for glasses in the store? the design is so evocative, and the organic animation is borderline scary-good. the sound design creates a beautiful abstract translation of the visuals… mad props to ILP, the is the first time i’ve heard of them, and it wont be the last.
