Knife Party Updates

I’m not shy about publicly adoring Simon Robson. Yes, he’s one of Motionographer’s contributors, but even if he hated my guts, I’d be posting the news of his recently updated site.

Among the new work: Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares; Save the Children Campaign; idents for “Seeds of Change”;  The Oberver newspaper’s “Book of Books”; and animation work Simon directed for the promo of Chris Atkins’ (BAFTA nominated director of “Taking Liberties”) latest film about celebrity culture, which is currently in production.

Simon is obsessed with metaphor, and that’s one of the biggest reasons I like his work so much. He searches high and low for images that work both as instant, visceral stimuli and as densely packed semiotical nuggets that add new dimensions to the written word.

I also like that Simon’s oeuvre is a balance between commercial and non-commercial work. One feeds the other without a bunch of schizophrenic angst developing between the two.

And i love Justins smart-ass writings.

Hey Simon my love nice update.

  • matt

Great work as always. The only thing that really bugs me is that each section lives in a pop-up window.

‘Simon my love’????? ahhhh Marc B. You and Simon are so cute together…….like peas in a pod. Like a lock and a key. Like old married couple……

holy Shiitakes, those were pleasant to scroll through. nice pick for the cover too – the ‘Seeds’ were Blue Ribbon… actually, I’m not sure I really mean that – they were all stellar.

    great work again, Simon

Really nice update Simon… As much as I love Justin’s witty articles, I also enjoy reading Simon’s outspoken thoughts in the comment sections…

I find it ironic that an editor for motionographer would break so many of its own rules from the “How to build a website”? article awhile back. Seriously those pop ups are really really annoying. The site is dated.

    Terrific work. Terrible Site.

“Directing the peak oil era” Dang, I should’ve thought of it, really a cool slogan. Sound like sponsored by Simmons or theoildrum.com :)

    great work simon,

    and @theTruth’s comment

I am actually really glad you rock the plain html site with pop-ups

in an industry where everything is flashy, neon and holographic it’s very nice to come to a site that doesn’t require ritalin to digest.

(it might need some animated gif’s of fire and a midi player though)

  • dudefromelsewhere

I wont take a look on the work, because the site is just way too teribble.
it seesm the owner tries to hide his work.

gifs would be fun, but this site is only there to get closed…

The site is made DELIBERATELY as a Moral aesthetic! – is there such thing NOWaDays?
And in ART that is a KICK in the bollocks!

    Lovely!

    • oeuf

Moral aesthetic? Is that anything like Dynamically organic?

I hate the multiple pop-ups, but I bear it to see the great work.
      Good stuff Simon!

I can’t see all the fuss about the site. it works – you guys! you must have too much time on your hands to get bothered by such trivialities…

    • dudefromelsewhere

I dont have enought time to waste is on such a stupid site
