Google’s Superbowl Ad: Falling In Love with Search

Of all the Superbow ads, my favorite is Google’s “Parisian Love.” Simple, on-brand and surprisingly poignant. Kudos to director Aaron Duffy for his restraint and impeccable sense of timing.

That was my favorite commercial too.
Superbowl ads were lame, it seems it gets worse every year. With couple exceptions, not much there.

This is impressive. So simple, yet so damn effective.

What makes this commercial what it is for me is the playfulness of the connections between “truffle” and “Truffaut.” Truffaut’s films are themselves filled with biographical references, and most famously a ménage à trois in Jules and Jim.

As much as I like this, it is alomost begging for a porn-centric parody.

Spots like this are better than a lot of the others because of the thought that lies beneath the surface.
