The Story of Bottled Water

The Story of Bottled Water, a new film by activist Annie Leonard and Free Range Studios employs the same clear and accessible style of their highly successful Story of Stuff film to explore the issue of bottled water for World Water Day.

Huffington Post: The Story of Bottled Water: Fear, Manufactured Demand and a $10,000 Sandwich

Just a bit brilliant really; clear, concise, educational and entertaining. Really enjoyed it…

Great animation, kept my interest and very engaging. However, this message is very preachy without crediting any sources. How do I know you went to India and saw mountains of bottles? What studies are you referring to that tap wins tastes tests over bottled? Sounds to me that you are manufacturing demand, scaring us and seducing us yourself..

But don’t get me wrong..I bottled water is stupid and an unnecessary expense.

Craiggles08, I know you’re just playing the devil’s advocate, but here is an annotated script if you really do want more information:

it all seems rather silly to me. if i have a choice to buy soda or water 9 out of 10 times i will buy water. It’s just way better and more refreshing than soda.
So unless you start a campaign to get rid of soda getting rid of bottled water seems silly to me. You’re telling me I should put more value in soda than water. I think that’s wrong.
Also I don’t cary my kitchen tap with me everywhere I go. Nor do I have a ice cooler in my backup. Bottled water is something I’m happy to pay for.
    Enjoy your pepsi.

Did u watch that video and REALLY conclude that if u gave up bottled water … the ONLY options left are “to carry your kitchen tap around” … or “drink pepsi”… REALLY?

      • zenbeat

No, in fact, that was not my only conclusion. Effective video by the way.
My point was that just because water is available cheaply it does not devalue it. It has nothing to do with manufactured demand.
