May 21, 2013 A heartbreaking and skillful tour-de-force from the west coast Buck office. With an emotive score by Antfood this piece tackles the difficult subject of child sexual abuse.

April 15, 2013 New stuff from Plenty! With these ID’s for NICK, they have created a nice “handmade look” combining frame-by-frame animation and 3D. You can check out more details of the project right here.

Disney’s Oscar-nominated short, Paperman, is now online. Check out itsartmag’s Paperman Breakdown by director John Kahrs. The sexy proprietary software that displaces textures with motion vectors is quite impressive.
Competing against Paperman for the Oscar this year along with Adam and Dog by Minkyu Lee, Head Over Heels by Timothy Reckart and Fodhla Cronin O’Reilly, Maggie Simpson in “The Longest Daycare” by David Silverman, and Fresh Guacamole by PES.
A pair of lively yarn spots from RCA alum Dan Ojari. Keep an eye out for his short, Slow Derek, which is finishing out its film festival circuit.
Gravity is a mistake. The Centrifuge Brain Project by Till Nowak, starring Leslie Barany, cinematography: Ivan Robles Mendoza, sound: Andreas Radzuweit, Lukas Bonewitz
Kromag #7 (featuring: Helio Vega, Matt Lambert, Rob Chiu, Renascent, Onesize and many more)

Les Courtisans tour the history of Louis Vuitton’s trunk designs via eye-popping projection mapping.

Hat tip to Short of the Week’s Sundance write-up, where I found out Tom Schroeder’s Marcel, King of Tervuren is online in full. In this Greek tragedy—as acted out by Belgian roosters—Marcel survives the bird flu, alcohol, sleeping pills, and his son, Max.
I recommend Schroeder’s earlier films, which also feature adventurous cameras and transitions. Bike Ride is an early work from 2001, and his 2010 film, Bike Race is a nice bridge between Ride and Marcel, with hints of texture, color, and delicate, dancing vegetation.
