Animated A-Z

Well, this is a fun way to start the week.

Al Boardman (one of the folks behind the 9 Squares project), has shared his compilation of typographic explorations for the 36 Days of Type Project:

During April 2016, I designed and animated A-Z characters as part of the 36 Days of Type project (except I didn’t do the numbers!). I designed and animated one a day for 26 days. Some took longer than others, some are just re-works of existing GIFs, when I didn’t have as much time, most are new concepts.

Oh come on, do you really think this project deserve to be featured on Motionographer?

Al Boardman

How delightful of you to say so!

Hi, Mar. Nice job posting such a well thought out response. I would suggest that you are more than welcome (and able) to start your own motion graphics blog, where you would be free to feature whatever you deem worthy whenever you want. You should feel free to do so at any time. Best of luck.

Apparently he did! I always thought that’s how it worked – you know, a site that curates work from across the industry for us to see – sometimes you like it, sometimes you don’t – a pretty simple concept. But at least we have a good idea why you personally found this specific work to be so unworthy of sharing, given how insightful your comment was.

I really love this kind of animated typeface! Great work, Al!
I’m an animator, so I know it’s hard to animate single character per day for 26 days as a side project. I can’t complete such a everyday project.
