Hi All.

I've just recently moved back to Sydney from London after living and working as a Motion Graphics Designer and am having trouble finding freelance work in Sydney. I've worked for a few companies but as the year is drawing to and end, it's becoming harder to find work.

Are there any websites like Motionographer that specialise in broadcast design in Sydney and advertise jobs for Motion Designers.

Cheers.

Hey guys

I'm thinking of creating a bit of a self promotional/viral clip to send out / put on the web etc to show off my skills.

I'm an editor, motion designer and camera operator and want to do a fun video parodying cheesy 80's videos (ie - simulating bad computer graphics, bad editing effects, cheesy electronic music etc)

A majority of the clip will be graphics in this style to poke fun at how people think technology is the most important aspect when choosing who to make a video when we all know it's more about ideas. Only thing is i've found some clips of video on the web from the 80's that would suit the idea well, just illustrative pieces of old computers in use, smiling colleagues, default corporate video stuff ripped off VHS. I'd like to incorporate these into the video but are worried about a few things:

a) obviously the copyright reasons of using someone else's footage

b) possible client reaction to using someone elses footage in my work, no matter how minimal the use is

Putting a 'disclaimer' stating this either on the website where the video will be show, or at the start/end of the video stating the source footage does not belong to me is an option. Although i fear this will make the project and indeed myself as a professional, seem amateur.

I'd like to hear members views on this subject, specifically with regards to the way web works with 'viral' videos and whether as this video will be classified as such, using existing footage shouldn't create concern. I'd like to use the footage regardless as i believe the context of the video being the parody and the obvious dated nature of the footage shouldn't anger anyone.

Hope you guys can help!

Hi! i am a 21 year old Graphic Designer from Venezuela, i have some experience in the Motion Graphics field, but not like in the Graphic Design field. I would like to continue my studies towards Motion graphics, but i would like to get some feedback on schools.

Please keep in mind that i am from Venezuela, so it would be better for my parents to find a school in the united states that fit their budget (by this i mean not a very expensive school) and also i would like to find a school with a not too long program (say 3 to 5 years, that would be long)

So far i have research about the following schools:

Art Center
SCAD
Acadamy of Art University
Full Sail
Ex'pression
OTIS

But please if you read this and have some info about any of these schools or others that i did not list here, let me know, please understand that it is a big decision for me, being an international student, and i have to choose wisely, so i am trying to find a school that focus mainly on the practical application of motion graphics (by this i mean some that not include American History in their curriculum)

Thanks!

My name is Michael (some call me MK) i am a recent graduate living in Chicago and was wondering if anyone here is also from Chicago. I'm interested in meeting people to network with. More importantly i am in dire need of finding work. I'm searching for companies to intern for, i beleive its the best possible way of getting more professional experience under my belt and one step closer to a career. Does anyone here have any good advice or work for a company that is currently seeking interns?

I created a reel of some of the animation work I have done professionally. Its my first attempt so I know I've probably broken some unspoken rules but I'd appreciate any feedback. I'm really looking o break into the motion graphics/ broadcast world so any guidance/ advice for that would be helpful too!
