UI Artist
at Bedlam Games in Toronto
Are you looking for an opportunity in the video game industry?
Bedlam Games Inc. is an independent, Venture Capital backed video game developer located in the Historic Distillery District in downtown Toronto, Canada.
We are looking for a talented User Interface artist to work on a soon to be announced AAA game for the PS3 and Xbox360.
Specific duties include:
• Working closely with the UI programming team to implement all aspects of the User Interface.
• Accurately creating visual elements in line with the visual direction defined by the Art Department Head and the Project Art Lead.
• Frequently interfacing with the Art Lead and concept art team to ensure consistency between concept and UI assets.
• Working with Art Lead and Designers to ensure that all UI elements contribute to an outstanding game play experience.
• Preparing assets for export to game engine.
• Consistently striving to exceed the highest quality standards of the studio.
• Demonstrating enthusiasm, drive and a sense of urgency when performing job functions.
• Remaining flexible in undertaking any other such duties and responsibilities as directed.
Required Experience and Skills:
• 3 or more years User Interface creation experience in a production environment.
• Extensive portfolio displaying diverse artistic skills.
• Art related college or university degree: BA or BFA
• Thorough understanding of User Experience and Human Computer Interface.
• Extensive knowledge of 2D art tools, such as Adobe Flash, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
• Ability to take direction and constructive criticism in a positive manner.
• Superior communication skills.
• Driven, focused, and won’t settle for mediocrity.
• Must be willing to put in the time required to create great work while meeting all milestones.
Desirable Experience and Skills:
• Graphic Design and Desktop Publishing experience.
• Experience with Scaleform, Gameface or any other vector based UI creation tools
• Extensive understanding of lighting, mood, and color.
• Experience using Unreal 3.
• Experience with PMI methodology.
• Shipped one or more AAA games.
• Development experience on multiple platforms.
