Designer-Editor

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Design and program internal information channel content. Work closely with producers and clients to cut high-end corporate video stories using Final Cut Pro. Support a small team of production professionals by assisting in all areas of post production.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage all aspects of the Novartis Information Channel (NIC). Includes designing, editing, scheduling and archiving all system content.
• Maintain screens and computers related to NIC network
• Process project forms for billing, generate monthly measurement reports
• Perform technical editorial functions including rough cuts, graphic design & integration, audio sweetening, color correction and final delivery for video productions
• Author DVDs and prepare other final program output
• Be constantly vigilant throughout all projects for proper branding, correct details, spelling, and ultimate program content
• Make creative decisions regarding the editing of projects based on written scripts or input from producer, director, and/or client, and ensuring quality control and consistency on final project
• Coordinate all aspects of editing & graphics as needed; Interface with client and producer; work closely with clients to ensure their needs are met and offer creative solutions for each project
• Perform basic troubleshooting and minor engineering of edit suite and media storage system(s)
• Maintain video library computer system and assist with library organization
• Assist with other crew positions as needed
• Other duties as assigned
SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
• Hands-on technical computer experience; extensive knowledge of PC & Mac operating systems
• Proficiency with Final Cut Pro and After Effects
• Proficiency with Photoshop, Illustrator, Motion, Shake, DVD Studio Pro
• Familiarity with Scala Designer, Network Manager and Player v. 3 or similar design & digital signage/messaging systems
• Demonstrated ability to utilize extensive knowledge of equipment operation, production techniques, engineering requirements and client branding initiatives: both industry standards and those unique to client
• Eye for design and ability to create broadcast-quality graphic images
• Ability to work effectively with senior management and production colleagues in a corporate environment
• Extreme attention to detail
• Energy, enthusiasm and initiative
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Well organized and able to handle multiple assignments with varying deadlines
• Fully capable of accurate time and resource budgeting
• Customer service orientation; Professional presence and superior client relationship skills
• Must have a commitment to excellence and to ongoing education in video / film production and to the mastery of their craft
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree or Master's degree in Video/Film Production, Graphic Arts, IT or related field is preferred
• 5+ years experience editing in the corporate or television production industry
• Excellent samples/reel that demonstrate creative work for major clients
