“Meaning” is the result of going through the entire motion design process to create a simple animation for my Motion Design class at Learn Squared. It’s based on a quote from C.S. Lewis in “Mere Christianity”:
“If the whole universe has no meaning, we should never have found out that it has no meaning: just as, if there were no light in the universe and therefore no creatures with eyes, we should never know it was dark. Dark would be without meaning.”

Like many motion designers, I began learning this trade on my own, finding tutorials online and clicking around in After Effects for fun. I eventually went to school and did a 1-year course, but after working in the industry for many years, I still always wished there was a more specific and practical program that I could have taken when I started Motion Design.
So when Ash Thorp and Learn Squared asked me to do an online class, as unqualified as I feel for it, I decided to use it as an opportunity to create the kind of course I wished I could have taken when I started.

During the class, I do my best to take students through the history and theory of Motion Design, and I also create a project from start to finish, going through all the steps of the Motion Design process. This project is the result of that process.

Enjoy, and I hope to see you in class! www.learnsquared.com/motiondesign
