Bryan Louie

Emmett Dzieza recently passed me a link to the wickedly talented Bryan Louie.

You’ve probably already seen Bryan’s work elsewhere. His distinctive style is ornately organic, with baroque flourishes and earthy palettes that simultaneously evoke sophistication and a kind of a bucolic beauty.

The amount of detail in a typical set of boards is just astounding. Bryan obviously invests a great deal of time and energy in each image, lending his work a hand-crafted artistry that puts him head and shoulders above average illustrators and designers.

Yeah, it’s safe to say that he’s one of the main influences behind the work being done today. Simply amazing!!!

On a negative note, because his work has been such an influence and the fact that he is a freelancer, most studios in LA have VERY similar looking reels.

P.S. Since this blog has been known to attract some haters, I’m going to clarify myself, I said, he is “ONE” of the main influences… Of course there are a few other LA based freelancers that are just as influential. He is definitely one of them.

M.cO, are you saying that Bryan is dominating and directing the LA design scene? I think you need to spend more time finding out who the BIG players are my friend.

Awesome work though…. getting a little old with the splashy journey through water coloury flowers accented by black inkings to a logo resolve as a concept for everything however. Opps, was i meant not to say that, oww sorry, yes, yes, simply amazing work, breathtaking, never seen anything like it….gorgeous, simply amzing!

LOL THA-DON, did you read my 3rd paragraph hater??? I specifically stated he is not the only freelancer influencing the work in LA studios, but he is one of them.

THA-DON, your website is great too, amazing use of white space.
