Don’t You Think Of Me Once In A While? | Jackson Mico Milas | Steffie Yee

Fusing the melancholic vocals of Jackson Mico Milas with playful, patchwork-like visuals is Animation Director Steffie Yee’s music video for the poignantly titled track, ‘Don’t You Think Of Me Once In A While?’ (2022).

Veering away from a traditional performance video, the emotionally charged track is defused by kaleidoscopic patterns that weave through mosaics of limbs, drums, keys and branch-like fretboards, that skew the audience’s perspective at the turn of every new scene.

The music video is a small-budget project created by a humble team of 3 people – Jackson (the musician), Declan (the DoP), and myself (director, animator and editor).

All footage in this video was shot in a small recording studio-turned makeshift photography studio and green screen room.

The process was very much DIY for us. Although there were some limitations in place for us as artists on a small budget, there were no limits on our creativity to produce a unique and visually playful music video.

From the creator:

Official music video for the single 'Don't You Think of Me Once In A While?' from the album Blu Terra (2022) by Jackson Mico Milas.

The goal of this music video was to veer away from a traditional performance video, while offsetting the melancholic and emotionally charged nature of the track with some visually playful imagery. The result is a kaleidoscopic, patchwork-like video, that weaves through a mosaic of limbs, drums, keys and branch-like fretboards that skew the audience’s perspective at the turn of every new scene.
