Old School Comments Are Back

You guys were right, and I was wrong: Old school comments are better than my fancy forum-post-as-comment idea, so I decided to swallow my pride and roll things back to the good ol’ days. Enjoy.

If it ain’t broke…

Was worth a try though, , i guess

Well, it kinda was broken, in the sense that this comment system allows—maybe even encourages—people to leave short, inane comments like “rad” or “this sucks.” Not very helpful stuff, and it kinda drags down the overall feel of the site.

But oh well, democracy rules, right? :-)

Comments, Good. Forum, Better (when I have the time and who has that anymore.) Must say, I really like the box for the “Random Cream o Crop” with the “Full Cream” option. Now, If I can just get that stuff into a motionographer widget…..

you want to get your ‘full cream’ into a widget?
have i arrived at the wrong party?

I think this is a good move. Unfortunately, whenever anyone tries discuss something in-depth via a blog, forum, or regular conversation, they’ll always get a few one words answers – and as you know from teaching, you can’t make people talk. Even if the responses are lacking substance, I’m sure the producer of the piece even likes to see general ‘thumbs up’ or ‘thumbs down’.

I think the biggest benefits here are: seeing the work at the top, responding to other responses (the visual nesting is good), seeing the number of responses before entering, and the option to comment to the Quickies (which I think is a huge plus).

Keep the the great work man, and thanks again for hosting this incredible site.

Wait.. what? The Cream top 20 is kindof random.. when you have a German rep company in there, Sehsucht.. and companies like Yu+co.
We all know who the real Cream is..Psyop, MTheory, Logan, Stardust, BNS. in that order possibly..

Oh yeah baby :)

BTW this would’be been good to discess in the forum.
FOCUS, GUYS, YOU CAN DO IT!

Maybe I should’ve posted this to the forum…. Oh well

All is well in the cosmos.
Thank you.

I find it a little disturbing to read comments with all the ‘quickies’ on the side. I think in when reading a post (as apposed to the main page) and in the comments section you should have minimal graphics around the sides.

Besides for that, I LOVE the new Motionographer site. Good job!
