With up to 100 trillion microorganisms, each human’s gut microbiota (intestinal flora) is a full ecosystem: nearly 1 000 species coexist in harmony in this environment, in a mutual beneficial relationship with their host. But like any living ecosystem, its balance is fragile, and can be affected by various aggressions leading to a gut microbiota imbalance.
