‘Double Rainbow’ is a music video fully storyboarded, illustrated and animated by Juliana Conidi, a Buffalo-based creative. It was created to market and support client Molly Conrad‘s new single—’Double Rainbow’—that the Buffalo-based indie musician released to streaming services in November 2024.
With it being a heartfelt song about the toll depression can take on a relationship, where sometimes you have to just be there to weather the storm with your partner, Molly was open to Juliana’s story idea of portraying two anthropomorphic rainbows as the main characters of this video. They travel through their sky world and endure obstacles formed by clouds, ultimately reaching an end that’s maybe ambiguous, but hopeful at the same time.
Molly’s musical style has traditional singer/songwriter aspects, upbeat pop songs, slower songs, stripped down songs and the like. But the running theme throughout her catalog is that there’s always this childlike wonder and earnestness to a lot of her music that has become her signature. She doesn’t shy away from how she feels in her music, and I think that’s really the draw to her fans. I thought bright colors, a curvy and inviting illustration style, simplified elements, and some gradients and texture could work together to visually represent that childlike wonder.
