Motionographer® Never Sit Still

Node Fest, Australia’s premier Motion Design event, is held annually in Melbourne, bringing together designers, animators, and digital professionals from across Australia and New Zealand to celebrate creativity and foster collaboration. One of the most anticipated moments is the presentation of the opening titles, which allows selected studios to showcase their talent with complete creative freedom. This year, the event entrusted the task to Sydney-based studio Never Sit Still, who delivered a bold concept: depicting a creator’s descent into madness.

The creative approach of Never Sit Still, led by Creative Director Zoe Crocker, reflects the chaotic and emotional journey motion designers undergo in their pursuit of originality. The piece explores the transition from chaos to clarity, accompanied by a unique jazz-inspired sound design. This genre, chosen for its ability to capture the intensity and spontaneity of the creative process, highlights Zoe’s deep personal connection to music, influenced by her parents, both renowned classical and jazz musicians.

To bring this sonic vision to life, the studio collaborated with Smith and Western and composer Scott Langley, who created a soundtrack performed by acclaimed musicians such as Nigel Crocker and Dane Laboyrie.

The result is a work that masterfully combines visual and auditory dynamism, offering an unexpected take on the motion design genre. This impressive fusion showcases the innovative capabilities of Never Sit Still, earning the industry’s applause.
