mateuniverse: Color Robot
“Color Robot,” Mate Steinforth’s entry into Getty Images’ The Next Big Idea, is pretty interesting. The way he used Getty Images stock footage is nicely blurred (literally and figuratively) with his own creations. There’s a fluid interplay between the forms and colors of the cityscape and the strange robotic curves of the color-canon that I really enjoy.

If you dig it, register and then vote for it here. If not, vote for something else. This is a cool contest that needs some community support (even if it is hosted by a mega-mammoth corporate entity).
If you’d rather not bother with the Getty Images site, you can view the piece on Mate’s site as well.

The skyscraper distortion caught me by suprise! Nice use of colour/b&w. Both sets of imagery are unexpectedly seamless.
I’m gonna sign up and vote later

If it just wouldn’t look like a Pleix Rip-Off.
I like Nandos better but i’ve only seen these two so far. Any links to the others?

Thanks for the comments everyone. I´d like to mention the work of Florian Witzel, known for his work on Fall Of Antioch (http://www.justincone.com/tween/index.php?p=465) and Michael Fakesch from Funkstörung (http://www.funkstorung.com) on that one. @mark: Which pleix piece does it looked ripped off though?

hey PK!
Nice one! I really dig the intro with the loading and the text screen and I love the music. Did you do it yourself?
