Eric Lerner Goes Global for Coke

NOTE: If the above link is slow, try our mirrored version here.

Following up on the success of his Mr. City Men series, Partizan’s Eric Lerner directed his first global campaign for Coca-Cola and agency Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam. Like Mr. City Men, “Bird’s Nest Stadium” uses the same basic approach of compositing lovable characters into everyday scenes, but the production value has been bumped up considerably.

In addition to some lively character animation, the number and variety of camera moves is worth noting. Virtually every shot calls for match moving, but everything flows beautifully.

This spot isn’t about technical achievement, though; it’s about playful storytelling finished off with a satisfying—and undeniably cute—resolution. Props to Eric and the whole team for creating a mini-short that builds on both the goodwill of the Olympics and the feel-good branding for which Coke is known.
