Gareth = G’raffe

Well, this will bring me out of hiding. Gareth, a motion graphics artist from New Zealand, has recently put some of his work online, and it’d damn good stuff.

Don’t just watch the reel (although it is an excellent specimen), take some time to check out his other work. G’raffe has a wide range of styles at his disposal, which he often uses to create twisted narratives like “Phlegmatic” and “Semi Competitive.”

Also don’t miss the hilarious RESN reel, which resembles the first thing I would have ever created with my Amiga 500 back in the early 90s, if I’d ever actually learned how to use it. (I find myself strangely hungry for bacon.)

Totally ace work, Gareth.

F*n sweet. I like the guy with the shirt over his head and the gofer with glasses.

The short film he did about a schizophrenic freaked me out, but was really cool.

Hey Sean…I wasn’t sure whether to put the short film online. So I’m pleased to hear that you liked it. As its so old there are bits that make me cringe, but overall I think its a good story. Before writing the script we studied schizophrenia…man it can be a very scary world for some people.

Pretty impressive portfolio
I love the navigation.

Love the twinset video. The photography is great and the animation picks up a little of the style that Stardust + LFS did for the futureheads, adding a lot of charm and playfulness to the video… Great work!

great work, really intelligent and fun. twinset blows doors on the futureheads video :)

additionally, the sound design on the nav is hella tight.

slammin. this post really made my day. fun and inspiring to watch. Another comment on the site/nav…. Normally I dislike flash sites, specifically for browsing ‘boards and QTs, but job well done on this here. fast, easy and playful nav. jason, I second that on the sound design

i loves loves loves the semi-competitive piece. so well done, what a great utilization of so many different styles. great job.

the semi competetive was really cool. Did he do this on his own? Always curious because if he did i give him props .

Yo Tha-Don….yeah was all me…well except: my workmate Lucas added the smoke coming out of the T-Rex’s nostrils. And another mate Jeremy did the sound design. And Pete McD made little yella.

GOod work ! Gareth !! lots of style ! Respect to you
