Motionographer turns 20 this year. Twenty years, no ads, no sponsors, one publication pointing at the work and the people who make it. We are not going to mark it with a retrospective. We are going to mark it the way this community marks anything worth marking: in a room, with the work on a wall and the people who made it standing in front of it.
It happens that the best room of the year lands in our city the same week. Motion Plus Design comes to New York on Saturday, September 26, and Motionographer is its media partner. So the 20th is a weekend, not a night.

Friday, September 25: Founder House, and 20 seats for 20 years
The night before the conference, the speakers and the people who built Motionographer gather on a private rooftop in Lower Manhattan. Eighty people. No tickets, no charge, projectors on the wall of the building next door, the work of this year’s Motion Awards winners on a loop. It is a birthday, not a bar.
Twenty of those seats belong to you, and the way in is a conference ticket. Every Motion Plus Design ticket bought by Wednesday, September 23 goes into a draw, run by Motion Plus Design from their own list, and twenty names come out. If you already bought one, you are in. Winners hear by email on Thursday, September 24, with the address. There is nothing to sign up for, no form, no follow. Buy the ticket, and on Thursday check your inbox.
Saturday, September 26: Motion Plus Design New York
One day, one stage, at Roulette in Brooklyn, 509 Atlantic Avenue, doors at 1pm. The lineup runs Mehdi Hadi, Saad Moosajee, Bhakti Patel, Danaé Gosset, Brian Yoo, Rachel Brickel and Vallée Duhamel, with Spenser Dickerson of Render Network and Áron Filkey of Runway on the tools side, and the closing at 7:15pm. Kook Ewo has spent fifteen years building this conference in Paris, Tokyo and Los Angeles as the rare event where the talks are about the craft, not the pitch, and last year he brought it to New York for the first time. This is the second edition, and the room is bigger. The full program is below, and the trailer above is the fastest way to understand why we said yes before we were asked.
