Artful Being Brings Collage Animation to Football’s Off-Pitch Careers

Artful Being has created eight animated Instagram Reels for Follow Your Passion, a careers initiative from The Open University and BBC Bitesize. Aimed at 14–19-year-olds, the series looks beyond the pitch to the people who make football happen, from social media producers and data analysts to sports psychologists.

Designer and animator Danny Cato gives the campaign a tactile, cut-and-paste language: torn newspaper, halftone portraits and oversized brush lettering. Built for vertical viewing, each film introduces a role and its skills in under a minute. The dense compositions and abrupt shifts in scale give the career information the energy of a moving poster.

The production also brought a young voice into the studio. Artful Being worked with Diana Jarvis at the Young Reporter Scheme to cast award winner Arran Sihota as narrator, extending the campaign’s focus on career opportunities into the making of the films. Fonic Post handled audio post, with sound design by Chris Swaine and music licensed through Audio Network.

The series is made for @OUConnect. Watch selected episodes and see the full project credits on Artful Being’s project page.
