Today, Black Math debuts a brand relaunch anchored by a codified expression of the studio’s guiding principle for over a decade: “Start with Art.” The refresh aligns the studio’s outward presence with its long-respected role in the industry and evolution into a globally-connected creative partner, making visible the art-led approach and tool mastery that has powered its growth.
Founded in 2012 as a boutique Motion Design shop, Black Math has evolved into a globally-connected design & technology studio working with visionary brands and creative leaders across a diverse set of platforms and sectors. While much of the industry has been consolidated or contracted in recent years, Black Math has continued to grow in this niche defined by high craft and future-forward execution, tackling platform-native content with Meta and experiential prototyping with Google.
“We’re here to lead the conversation on craft and art as the differentiator in elevating what clients should be demanding from creative partners today,” noted cofounder Evan Fellers. “As new tools reshape the landscape, we’re leaning into the frontier of creative technology, in service of creating more resonant, meaningful experiences.”
The studio attributes its success and momentum to this art-first philosophy, which has reached an inflection point where scaling the team and making its point of view more visible has become the strategic next step. “Start with Art” will now publicly guide how the studio applies emerging tools, always in service of taste and craft, just as it has powered its partnerships with brands including Reebok, Transmedics, Chime, and Yelp.
“‘Rebrand’ is an easy label, but we’re not chasing a trend or changing who we are,” added cofounder Jeremy Sahlman. “We’re clarifying what has always proven Black Math’s value. Tools will keep changing. Taste is the constant. ‘Start with Art’ is how we lead.”
