Bi-coastal creative agency Brand New School, has signed director Daniel Uribe to their roster of in-house talent for representation in the United States.
Uribe brings his background in design and animation to his work behind the camera, where he crafts shorts, branded films, commercials, music videos, and social impact films.
Seamlessly blending live action with motion graphics and animation, Uribe is an expert storyteller, able to tell complex narratives in intuitive and streamlined ways. With a style that ranges from heartfelt to gritty, arty, and sensational, his original work often plays out against chic, contemporary tableaus, where his lens seeks to challenge stereotypes and elevate stories of the human condition. He has worked with branded clients, including Google, White Claw, Apple, Slack, and Meta, and he’s directed music videos for the artists Oh Wonder and Elsa Y Elmar.
Uribe was born and raised amidst the art and culture of Mexico City before moving to the United States to enroll in the Savannah College of Art and Design, where he earned a BFA in Motion Media Design. He went on to pursue animation and design internships at Digital Kitchen, Scholar, and Buck before discovering his true calling was on set. He helmed his first film in 2015 with a music video for Oh Wonder’s “Without You,” which has since racked up over 80 million views on YouTube and launched him onto the world stage as a director to watch.
Among his numerous awards and nominations, Uribe was shortlisted for the Young Directors Award in 2020 for his short film “Influx,” which also won the Shorts Spotlight Jury Award for Exceptional Filmmaking at the Savannah Film Festival and the Independent Shorts Award for Best Microfilm. In 2021, he was nominated for a UKMVA Award for Best Pop Newcomer Video. Shots included him in 2017 on their list of Rising Stars, which recognizes standout artists who are up-and-coming in the creative industries.
“I had the benefit of working with Brand New School as a Creative Director before joining the roster as a Director. I’ve been so impressed by the level of artistry, collaboration, and support that BNS has cultivated,” says Uribe. “They attract the world’s most daring and renowned brands, which pushes me creatively and strategically. I’m beyond excited to officially make Brand New School my creative home.”
“We built Brand New School as a place for artists to break new ground, innovate, and experiment, and those values complement Daniel’s directorial career,” says Devin Brook, BNS’s Managing Partner. “We’re thrilled to have Daniel on our roster, as he lends a cinematic eye to everything he directs. We look forward to nurturing his creative spirit under the aegis of Brand New School.”
