Echo Extravaganza… ganza: Ombrebueno’s Latest Website… site

Sergi Sánchez’s creative universe just got a digital heartbeat. The Barcelona-based animator, director, and certified rule-breaker behind Ombrebueno has launched a new website that’s less of a portfolio and more of a chaotic playground.

ombrebueno.com pulses with 20 years of animation grit, from his early days at Italy’s Fabrica—Oliviero Toscani’s experimental lab—to his 2008 ADCI Award-winning Durex campaign (“Whatever is on Your Mind”), which still makes ad agencies blush. The site’s a love letter to motion, rebellion, and the kind of creative risks that leave marks.

Think of it as a digital echo chamber. Toggle between eras to watch Sánchez’s style evolve: gritty early sketches, the dystopian swirl of his 2022 short Wooden Mirror (a festival darling that mashed cel animation with stop-motion), and client work for giants like Nike and Netflix that proves he’s equal parts artist and anarchist. Dive into the Noise Room for unreleased storyboards, doodles he calls “happy accidents,” and a pixel-glitch contact portal that might just wink back.

Why now? Sánchez coded much of the site himself between teaching gigs at Barcelona’s Comic & Visual Arts Center: Joso Schoo land prepping a 2025 retrospective rumored to include an AR-powered “echo chamber” installation. “Websites shouldn’t just sit there,” he says. “They should vibrate.” Case in point: the 404 page, where a sobbing cartoon avocado stares back—a metaphor for creative meltdowns or just a joke? Sánchez isn’t telling.
