‘Gleeful Beasts’: Something Weird is Happen Here

A new set of lovable, bonkers characters is set to hit screens on December 30th, bringing us the first new content from the brains behind Netflix smash ‘Bad Dinosaurs’. The startling internet sketch show ‘Gleeful Beasts‘ will bring smiles to faces across the world, at the same time as reinventing the way quickfire comedy can be made.

The show is the brainchild of two new companies. The British team at Sparklegoose is headed by Joel Veitch and Natt Tapley, fresh from Netflix animated hit ‘Bad Dinosaurs’. They are providing the comic writing and performance for the show, with music from Zac Veitch. The American team at Sans Strings Studios is headed by Ryan Corniel and the Oscar-recipient Sebastien Deguy. They use their world-leading technology and creative genius to provide the animated characters.

“We wanted to breathe fresh life into the wonderful tradition of sketch comedy that Britain has done so well for generations, using the incredible opportunities that technical revolutionaries like Ryan and Seb at Sans Strings can create,” said Veitch. “We thought, let’s take something incredibly powerful and impressive and use it to make something ridiculous and hilarious.”

With their last show, ‘Bad Dinosaurs’, Veitch and Tapley broke the Netflix Top Ten in 67 countries around the world, staying at the top of the charts for more than a month against such stiff competition as Baby Reindeer and Three-Body Problem. Having proven themselves masters of joyful ineptitude Joel Veitch and Natt Tapley brought a similar approach to the lovable, idiotic maniacs who make up the ‘Gleeful Beasts‘.

“There’s a real hunger for scripted comedy filled with big characters,” says Tapley “as we see every year when shows like Gavin & Stacey and Ghosts score huge ratings every Christmas. Broadcasters are currently failing to provide an environment where sketch comedy can flourish. We hope to show them how it can be done.”

The team will be releasing new content from December 30th, to introduce the world and characters of ‘Gleeful Beasts‘.
