New York-based production studio Identity has bolstered its roster of visually sophisticated storytellers by signing The Kaplans, a directing-and-design duo known for their innovative approach to advertising. Based in New York, Laura and Sam Kaplan operate out of a 3,500-square-foot studio housed in a 200-year-old barn, where they craft visually striking campaigns inspired by music videos, photography, and offbeat aesthetics. Their impressive portfolio includes work for major brands like Tropicana, Dunkin, Michelob Ultra, and Red Lobster, establishing them as leaders in food and product advertising.
Collaboration and problem-solving are central to The Kaplans’ creative process, with the pair leveraging their complementary perspectives to produce fresh and dynamic content. Joining Identity was a natural fit, thanks to Managing Partner Gloria Colangelo’s expertise in the food advertising space and the studio’s commitment to supporting groundbreaking work. “It was Gloria’s vision and the Identity team’s dedication to innovation that drew us in,” The Kaplans shared. “We feel confident that Identity will help us push the boundaries of the tabletop medium.”
For Identity, the addition of The Kaplans underscores its mission to remain a leader in visual storytelling. “The Kaplans’ fresh and innovative approach aligns perfectly with the direction of our industry,” said Colangelo. Executive Producer Molly Mitchell added, “Their unique style brings a new layer of creativity to our diverse roster, reinforcing Identity’s reputation as a hub for exceptional talent and forward-thinking content.”
