The Biennial of Animation Bratislava is launching film submissions for the international competition

The Biennial of Animation Bratislava (BAB) is now accepting film submissions for the international competition. Short animated films will compete for the main Viktor Kubal Award, which will be presented separately in the categories for children and youth. Additionally, a new award will be introduced for the best animated feature film for children and youth

The junior category is specifically designed for animated films created by children. Films can be submitted until March 31, 2024, through the Film Freeway portal.

The seventeenth edition of the international festival of animated films for children and youth will take place from October 9–13, 2024, in Bratislava. The theme of the upcoming year is #FUTUREISNOW, focusing on the climate crisis and new technologies. Alongside a diverse selection of animated films for children and youth, international workshops, and accompanying exhibitions, the festival will feature the BAB Industry Forum (organized in collaboration with APAF), which has become an important professional platform for creators and producers of animated films in the Visegrad region.

The festival also introduces a new organizing team, with filmmaker Andrej Kolenčík as the program director, Lucia Dubravay Trautenberger assuming the position of executive director, and Jana Vicenová and Lívia Filusová joining the festival’s production team. The visual campaign for the event was created by Matej Mihályi, a young graphic designer and animator.
