Apple was gearing up to launch the new Beats x Verdy speaker, a limited edition collab with the iconic Japanese artist. The challenge? Turn Verdy’s art into something that could live and breathe beyond the canvas. They needed a character that felt playful, instantly recognizable, and true to Verdy’s universe. Buda.tv took on the mission, designing not only the character but also the environments and full set of animations to bring this crossover to life.
The vision
At the heart of the project was a creative challenge: how do you translate Verdy’s flat, graphic 2D style into a fully realized 3D world without losing its identity? Buda.tv approached it as a reimagining, pushing every detail from proportions to textures to make the character feel authentic in 3D while still carrying Verdy’s unmistakable signature. The result was a blend of bold simplicity and playful energy that resonated with both Beats and Verdy’s audiences.
How it Ended
The launch rolled out across three dynamic pieces: one teaser to build hype and two full commercial spots to tell the story. Alongside the speaker itself, the campaign unveiled a toy stand modeled after our 3D character, giving fans a physical extension of the Beats x Verdy universe. It wasn’t just a product launch, it became a collectible moment that merged tech, music and street art culture.
