Winston Hacking | Listen2me – Foxwarren

The video for Listen2me was directed and created by filmmaker and artist Winston Hacking. The track is the first release from the Canadian quintet’s forthcoming album “2”. Hacking has previously collaborated with Foxwarren band member Andy Shauf, as well as Flying Lotus and Run the Jewels.
Speaking about the film, he said, “The piece draws inspiration from Stephen Frankfurt’s iconic To Kill a Mockingbird title sequence, particularly the striking macro photography and the textures it highlighted.

Philippe Tardif masterfully animated collage characters using stop motion animation done all in camera. This was all framed within a playful, ever-changing environment that evoked the spirit of ’60s pop art and assemblage sculpture – elements I felt would beautifully complement the song’s vintage tones.”“The macro probe lens, often relegated to food and nature photography, presented a tool I believed was ripe for further exploration. To streamline production and minimise the set’s footprint, all scenes were constructed within a 3×3 ft box.”PS: The video consists of actual miniature sets and stop-motion animation cut outs, no AI was used.
