Charlene Xu | Meiyu (Words of Her)

In That Woman, a young traveler’s fleeting city stay unravels into a surreal meditation on meandering desires—sex, motherhood, and time’s chaotic grip. Tormented by sensations thick as meiyu mold, she escapes into visions of reeds piercing her skin and days splintering like glass.

The film mirrors her psyche: sexuality tangles with societal ghosts of maternal duty, while hours dissolve into formless voids. Through ink-blurred animation, her body becomes a battleground—flesh merging with rain-slick streets, memories warping into grotesque fantasies.

A haunting ode to unspoken choices, it lays bare the weight of existence, where time bends and fractures around her silent rebellion.
