Dres The Thief | Rogue Creatures / Tomás Vergara

From Rogue Creatures’ first conversations with Descendant of Thieves (an independent men’s clothing brand in NYC), it was clear they were aligned. They approach clothing the same way Tomás Vergara approaches filmmaking: small batches, no shortcuts, every detail earning its place. Embrace the process. Take your time. Their commitment to crafting and operating made a shared mindset that shaped the entire short from the beginning and made the whole journey quite and adventure.

But what made this collaboration especially exciting is that they were stepping into territory not often seen in fashion. Animation is usually used for flash or surface level style, but they tried to build this DOT’s cinematic world based on flawed rogue characters, intention, patience, and precision. That opened the door for a different kind of piece Tomás Vergara never tried to make before and proved to be incredibly rewarding.

Everything in the film was handled that way. Planning, sketching, pacing. Each element was treated like something physical, something meant to feel made rather than generated, which often can feel like a huge challenge when doing CGI.

When they asked Rogue Creatures to create a piece entirely by hand, without AI, it felt like an invitation to slow down and honor the craft. And boy where they up to something!
