Elastic – Hazel Baird | Murderbot – Opening Titles

Elastic, the Emmy-winning studio, visualizes a sentient security unit’s rebellion in Murderbot opening titles with a striking split-world concept. One realm is cold and grid-bound, reflecting factory-set obedience. Then comes rupture: an explosion of neon skies, toy-like terrain, and surreal color—a dreamscape of messy autonomy. Created in Cinema 4D and rendered using Redshift, with compositing and finishing touches in After Effects, the three-minute sequence contrasts rigid control with playful freedom. Glass shards mark Murderbot’s forced return to duty. Showrunners wanted levity; Elastic delivered rubbery physics and neurodivergent whimsy. After three months of work, their message is clear: liberation is chaotic, vivid, flawed—and briefly, beautifully real.
