The animation originates from the intersection of architectural photography and the artist’s personal creative world. It serves as a visual dialogue between two realms: city monuments represent the “Reality,” while the author’s paintings embody the “Imagination.”

The journey begins with scenes of Paris photography, which are gradually overtaken by organic, ink-on-paper textures and fluid watercolor strokes. Accompanied by a classical strings soundtrack, transparent glass shapes float through the air, acting as lenses that reveal surreal fragments of a dreamlike castle.

As the camera glides across the city, the composition dives into a gallery space. Inside, solid sculptures undergo a metamorphosis, dissolving into abstract lines. The transformation culminates in a reveal of a central canvas featuring the word “Making,” surrounded by rhythmic water lines and architectural silhouettes.

Technical Note

In this animated short, Martynas Genkovas integrated his own architectural photography from Paris, blending reality with digital artifice and his personal ink-on-paper artwork. He replaced traditional museum sculptures with unique, AI-generated forms developed from his own reference images. To achieve a seamless visual experience, he primarily utilized camera projection techniques, integrating CG elements and rendering the entire composition as a cohesive whole. This approach allowed for highly realistic reflections and refractions, creating a fluid transition between the captured city and the imagined gallery space.
