Glasgow-based animation studio Revenant brings fresh perspective to one of history’s greatest survival stories with the title sequence for Beyond Endurance, a conceptual series inspired by Ernest Shackleton’s 1914 Antarctic expedition.Shackleton’s mission to cross Antarctica turned into a near-fatal saga when his ship, Endurance, became trapped in pack ice, leaving his 27-man crew stranded for nearly two years. While the story is legendary, it had never been interpreted through animation—until now.Revenant’s in-house team handled the project from concept to completion, crafting a bespoke 2.5D visual style using Cinema 4D and After Effects. The result is a surreal, expressive sequence that captures the stark beauty of the Antarctic and the emotional weight of the ordeal.“We wanted the tone to reflect the unforgiving landscape and the psychological strength of the crew,” says Head of Motion Design Ross Sneddon. “Each artist’s voice came through, adding a human layer to the visual narrative.”Blending atmosphere, abstraction, and historical depth, Beyond Endurance is more than a title sequence—it’s a design-led homage to resilience, crafted with reverence and cinematic precision.
