Wild Hearts | EA | The Mill

Morten Vinther

Morten Vinther recently directed this cinematic trailer through Mill+ for the launch of the new game ‘Wild Hearts’.

The two-and-a-half minute film is a closeup look at the relationship between ancient hunters and dangerous beasts known as Kemono in the world of Azuma. The hunters must harness ancient technology known as Karakuri to hunt and evade the Kemono.

The exceptionally well-crafted film was created entirely in CG and it was a massive undertaking achieving the high fidelity of the environments, humans and creatures. The VFX work was split between The Mill’s London & Shanghai studios. Motion and facial performance capture was recorded at Rouge Mocap in Los Angeles over 4 days, followed by a virtual camera shoot at The Mill in Culver City.

Morten Vinther: “It was important for me to portray the struggle of the hunters in a believable way and make sure that everything they do felt ‘earned’. We spent a lot of time on set crafting the challenging physical choreography and stunts. It took a lot of really hard work by everyone to get there and I’m incredibly proud of the final film.”

‘Wild Hearts’ is an EA Originals game, developed by Koei Tecmo and will be released on February 17th.
