Neko Studio teamed up with Netflix to craft this one-of-a-kind piece for the Wednesday Season 2 premiere.
They are huge fans of classic animation techniques like stop motion and we wanted to pay tribute to that spirit with something truly special. That’s when the idea of building a Zoetrope came to life.
A Zoetrope, first invented in the 1800s, is an old-school device that creates the illusion of motion by spinning a series of images in a loop, making them appear alive. Motion from pure mechanics, no screens, just light and magic.
Printed cardboard, razor cuts, glue, double-sided tape, and hundreds of tests later… the Wednesday-themed Zoetrope came to life.
