For the fourth season of Welcome to Wrexham, FX came to Awesome Inc for a full campaign package including key art, outdoor, and motion design that would match the momentum of Wrexham’s climb to League One.
The brief was to build on the look of past seasons, but shift more of the spotlight to the players while keeping the show’s famous owners, Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, in the picture. The goal was something bold, unified, and player-forward.
Their team created a look built around fire- using frame-by-frame, hand-drawn animation to give the players explosive energy as they charged across the screen. Most backgrounds were kept dark to let the flames really pop, and the whole campaign had a sharp, minimal color palette that felt powerful and clean.
From trailer graphics to key art and billboards, every piece needed to land across multiple platforms, formats, and delivery specs- and look great doing it. Getting likenesses right, animating fire in a way that felt expressive, and balancing all the moving pieces took a ton of collaboration and care.
