Art&Graft brings a vivid, painterly world to What Is Dyslexia?, a short film directed by Kyra Bartley for Made By Dyslexia. Created with Clemenger BBDO and FINCH, it sets out to change what children and parents encounter when they search for dyslexia online.
The story follows Lola as she looks for answers and finds descriptions that make her future feel smaller. An unexpected guide opens a different path, taking her through encounters with invention, sport and storytelling that reveal a world of possibilities.
Art&Graft combines expressive brushwork and varied frame rates with 3D character animation. Hand-drawn marks move through the rendered world, giving the characters and environments a tactile, restless energy that carries Lola’s changing perspective.
Hope Day voices Lola alongside Jeremy Irons, Liv Tyler, Jaalen Best and Lee Perry. The film features music by Lorne Balfe, sound design by MassiveMusic and the original song “Colours” by Ted Griggs.
