E4 Music IDs Directed by Andy Martin

This I promise: If you watch all 30 of the titles and IDs that Andy Martin designed and directed for E4 Music your mind will be at least partially as warped as his. Using a mish-mash of animation and live-action, Andy presents seeminlgy endless permutations of puppet-like animal/humans that “sing” the cheerful blips and bloops comprising each spot’s soundtrack.

Just when you think Andy has exhausted all his options, he throws something new in the mix. A character submerged in a fishbowl. Flying toast. And last by not least, a parakeet-eating donkey man.

As a campaign of four or five idents, this series would be entertaining. As a campaign of 30, it’s absolutely epic. But not Gilgamesh epic. More like Gumby-on-a-12-hour-acid-trip epic.

Andy did a great job with the music, too. According to this write-up from Creative Review, he used (among other things) a Kaoss Pad to whip up some sonic morsels. I’d love to get my hands on one of those.

Yeah, that was entirely awesome.

But as much fun as that was to watch, I bet it was even more fun to make.
