Prologue – Kyle Cooper | ‘Feud: Truman Capote vs The Swans’ Opening Credits

The animation in the opening credits of ‘Feud: Truman Capote vs The Swans’ is so exquisite and tells such a powerful story.

Prologue presents the stunning main title sequence for Ryan Murphy’s second season of Feud! Building on our Emmy-winning work for ‘Feud: Bette and Joan’ (2017), we drew inspiration from Paul Rand’s bold modernism and Saul Bass’s iconic cut-out style to craft a visually striking introduction.

The spiraling imagery and sophisticated design reflect the allure and danger of Capote’s glamorous world—where secrets and betrayal collide.

This sequence is elevated by the incredible Emmy-nominated composition by Thomas Newman, whose sophisticated and timeless score fully immerses viewers in this backstabbing world of the social elite. Newman said, “the intention was always that the music and the image and the editorial cut and the music tempo would really be aligned.”

“The notion of the series, which is Feud, that it’s Capote versus the swans that all these women were very, very close friends,” Newman said of his musical inspiration. “He betrayed them. There was alcohol, there was drugs, debauchery all along the way. It was pretty A to Z on that level, and again, with a frenetic cocained pace maybe.”
